Granite Falls Washington, settled in the 1890’s and incorporated in 1903, was named for the thundering waterfalls cut into solid granite by the nearby Stillaguamish River. The community of Granite Falls, population of 2,374, is the gateway to the historic Mountain Loop Highway. With easy access to the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest and dozens of nearby trails, Granite Falls is also a focus for Washington's outdoor adventure-seekers.
Incorporated in 1903, the town offers easy access to other popular vacation spots such as North Cascades National Park and Indian Summer Park. And just to the east is the old mining town of Monte Cristo, a popular destination for day hikers and mountain bikers. Ice Caves State Park, a cool summertime spot, is only a few miles up the road.
